Only the items listed on each listing were checked. Not an endorsement of workmanship, business practices, or future compliance.
What we verify
Credentials, not workmanship. Three checks, each dated, and only these three.
License active
Checked against the Florida DBPR licensee file, re-pulled every week. A license that drops out of the file, or stops being Current and Active, downgrades the listing the same day.
Identity confirmed
The person controlling the listing proves who they are before a phone number or badge goes public. Nobody can claim a business they don't control.
Insurance on file
A certificate of insurance is on file and dated, and the listing steps down when the policy period ends. Where the agent has confirmed it, the listing says so.
Verification is a record of what we checked and when. Confirm license status at myfloridalicense.com and request a current certificate of insurance directly from the business before signing a contract.
Contractors: your license record is already here.
Claim it free and add your trades and service cities. Verified Credentials puts your phone number, website and dated badge on the listing after the three checks clear.
HOAs and property managers: check your vendor list in one pass.
Paste your vendors' names or license numbers. You get back who holds an active license, who has insurance on file, and who is unknown, with a link you can share with the board. Free for managers.
Plans for contractors
Every paid plan verifies the same three things. Annual, renews automatically; cancel anytime at licensedandinsured.com/manage. Full refund if a check is not passed or activation isn't completed within 30 days.
Sponsored Placement (from $299/yr, one per trade per city) shows a card labeled Sponsored above the results in one city. Paid placement never changes the order of the results below it; within each tier, nobody pays to rank higher.
Common questions
What does “verified” mean on this site?
It means we checked three things and dated each one: the license is active in the Florida DBPR file, the identity of the person controlling the listing was confirmed, and a certificate of insurance was on file. Only the items listed on a listing were checked. It is not an endorsement of workmanship, business practices, or future compliance.
What does it not mean?
It is not a guarantee that the license or insurance is still valid after the dates shown, not a review of complaints or discipline unless the listing says so, and not a government credential. Confirm the license at myfloridalicense.com and ask the business for a current certificate of insurance naming you before you sign.
How often is a listing re-checked?
Licenses are re-checked every week against DBPR’s licensee file. A listing whose license drops out of that file, or stops being Current and Active, is downgraded the same day. Certificates of insurance are tracked to their policy end date; when a policy ends, the badge and letter come down.
Is it free to look someone up?
Yes. Searching, checking a license number, and viewing any listing are free for homeowners, HOAs and property managers. Contractors pay for a verified listing; homeowners never do.
I’m a contractor. What do I get, and how does billing work?
Claiming your listing is free and adds your trades and service cities. Verified Credentials ($49/yr) and Verified Pro ($99/yr) put your phone number, website and dated badge on the listing after the three checks clear. Memberships are annual and renew automatically; you can update your card or cancel anytime at licensedandinsured.com/manage. If a check is not passed, or you don’t finish activation within 30 days, we refund the payment in full.
Something on a listing is wrong, or someone claimed my business. What do I do?
Use the report form. If your report includes ownership documentation, the disputed profile comes off public view within two business days of our receiving it, while we investigate.
